Artist's Description
It is located 25km south of the Chios Town. It is a worth visiting village with narrow roads, churches and it typical architecture called xysta. The village is built like a fortress wall with attached houses. Unlike the other fortress villages on Chios Island, the walls of the houses are decorated with hand-engraving geometric motifs in black and white on plaster. The xysta style which resembles the Italian Sgraffito and comes from Genoa, makes Pyrgi a unique worth seeing village.
